Dear readers, we are back with another issue of Pergaminho magazine, a periodical of the Itapecuruense Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts (AICLA), which has been published since 2021 and seeks to disseminate literature and culture in all its diversity.
The electronic magazine Pergaminho is an interdisciplinary publication and aims to disseminate texts in the following genres: scientific article, poetry, chronicle and short story that help to strengthen the cultural values, identity and belonging of the municipality of Itapecuru Mirim, in the State of Maranhão and its relationship with the national context in tune with its thematic axes: Communication, Literature, Geography, History, Sciences and Arts.
In this new issue, we bring you an interview with Benedito Buzar, a journalist and writer who has published several books documenting the political history of Maranhão. He was a professor at the State University of Maranhão (UEMA), is a member of the Maranhão Academy of Letters (AML) and was its president for three terms. He also held public office in several governments of the State of Maranhão and was a columnist for major newspapers with his anthological column Roda Viva, published for many years. Buzar is a founding member of AICLA and was its first president. He also played an important role when he was director of the State Press and Graphic Works Service (SIOGE). During this period, he published a reissue of the book Murmúrios, by the poet Mariana Luz, a work that had been out of print for many years, rekindling interest in the work of this writer from Itapecuru, whose works include poetry and theater. This issue also features the article Des(caminhos) do amor e seus maravilhas em Amor Cruel, Amor Vingador de Maria José de Queiroz, by researcher Jaciane Muniz de Aguiar, with an analysis of short stories by the writer from Minas Gerais, Maria José de Queiroz.
There is a selection of poems by the poet Assenção Pessoa evoking the city of Itapecuru Mirim, which on July 21, 2024, celebrated its 154th anniversary since it was elevated to the status of city.
There is also the unpublished short story A ilha dos camarãos, by Viana dos Santos, which tells of a curious adventure on the Itapecuru River, the largest river in Maranhão.
We invite the reader to immerse himself in this reading.
